It’s said that there are no great adventures anymore. The spotlight of information and far reaching connectivity has left us with no strange places to discover. Or so the popular opinion goes. Travel guides and travel websites have brought some wondrous places close to us; either with their enticing photographs or with first hand traveler accounts. Today’s online international travel guides are also proving handy for the budget traveler who can plan for each dollar.
In the years before the web spun the world around, travel tips came through word of mouth. Now, you can just log on and be a voyeur as travelers carry you along each step of their journey. Which are these websites that allow you to be your own traveling guide?

There are many kinds of travelers. There are the ones who simply want to go from Point A to Point B without much bustle. There are the regulars on the travel circuits for whom the journey is more important than the destination. Then there are the ones who would love to travel but are moored to one place for whatever rhyme or reason.
Whether it is the backpacking thrill seeker or the armchair traveler, the internet is definitely the first place on the itinerary for most. The rich variety oftravel websites cover every conceivable route to reach a destination and seek out its sights.
For a bit of “live” virtual sightseeing, you need travel videos. Travel videos are just the thing to satisfy the armchair traveler too while the hopeful tourist gets a third eye view of a travel destination.
Before you book your tickets, do some virtual sightseeing with the help of these seven websites.

The nearly 10,000 travel videos may not cover all the areas you want to travel to but they sure hint at the destinations you should catch if you are somewhere close by. You can upload your own videos and share them with your friends too.

New feature of Google’s Hotel Finder service has been updated, that makes it easier to find accommodation in any city over a specific period of time.
Now, when you visit google.com/hotels, you’re asked not only to search for the area you want to stay in, but also the dates that you’re planning on being there. There is a hard work by bringing up its trademark maps with a dizzying number of red dots that represent its search results.
The update includes a dark box, overlaid on the top left-hand corner of the map, that brings up a detailed description of the various neighborhoods when you hover over the name with your cursor.
